It’s Day Two of dropping off caffeine cold-turkey for a couple of weeks. I’m still getting headaches. I’ve been told to expect them for another day or two.
Why am I quitting? I want to rule out external influence as a reason for my cognitive difficulties, see if perhaps it’s something easy to fix instead of ADD or depression. I have a hard time focusing and remembering things, can’t read fast, and have a rough time doing two-digit arithmetic in my head beyond a single pair of numbers.
Why cold-turkey? I want to know what my baseline is as soon as possible, since I’m curious. I want to know how badly jacked up I was. I want to test whether I can actually do something, and the only way to do that is to attempt something nontrivial. Anyone can do something that’s easy, or painless, or that has obvious short-term benefits.
