frog in the throat
Mar. 4th, 2013 11:18 pmI’m slowly closing in on 100% health. Thursday two weeks ago I came down with a sore throat and went to bed with a hundred degree fever. Friday I took a sick day and unintentionally slept until noon. For the next five days I put up with throat pain bad enough to wake me up in the middle of the night, but very few other symptoms. Things finally culminated in a doctor’s visit, which, among other things, necessitated actually picking one to go with my current health plan. A quick throat culture revealed I didn’t have strep, which meant it was probably a virus and all I could do was wait. That’s about the time my body started beating it. All that’s left now is an annoying scratch.
Since I was establishing a general practitioner as well as getting my throat checked, I also got a flu shot, tetanus booster, and cholesterol screen while at the medical center. (Zero is the wrong number of cholesterol screens for someone my age to have.) It turns out I’m basically straddling the borderline between “acceptable” and “could use some work” in most measurements. I suppose it’s time to start thinking about my diet.
Being sick delayed my latest crochet project. It’s for falcongrrl, and I don’t want to inadvertently make her a smallpox blanket. Anyway, it’s finished now. All I need to do is mail it.
