[Vincent] Connare took inspiration [for the Comic Sans typeface] from books such as Batman: The Dark Knight Returns … and Watchmen….
Muse (a science magazine for children ages 9-14), vol. 16, no. 1.

P.S. Okay, okay, that's a little out of context. The inspiration he took was how "these books blend art and text almost perfectly, so that neither drowns out the other, and both can be absorbed at once." He was trying to improve Microsoft's then-new Bob prototype, which was supposed to be easy and welcoming for non-computer-literate people to use but looked like ass using Times New Roman everywhere. Connare did not actually use those books to influence his new font's appearance itself.

But the confluence of Comic Sans, Alan Moore, and 9-14 year old children made my head asplode a little, and I needed to share.
