conspiracy theories
May. 26th, 2006 09:16 amLet me tell ya a real story about conspirations and stuff. I know is real because I was part of it.
After the WW2 (1945) my country was under communist rule til 1989. Were 45 long years. Well, not for me, I'm not THAT old, but for a lot of people. An opressive regime usually is the best "breeding ground" for underground organistions, and the communist rule is one of the best in this area. I guess only the nazy were "better".
Anyway, when I was around 16 yrs I had my head full of rebel ideeas about how to help my people to become independent and free. Heh. Don't laugh yet, there is more. Those kind of ideeas made me the perfect recruiting subject for one of those underground organisations. Most of the guys there were around my age, all from divorced families, all of us was convinced about how special and unique is. Of course, the "leader" helped us to believe even more in those things. As a side note, 90% from us were heavy-metal fans (well, i was with power-metal, aka with Manowar).
At a moment we were told about the "master plan": to blow up some dam to show people our power. But I had that "something is wrong here" feeling about this plan. I mean, we were supposed to help people in obtaining freedom, not to destroy something that would've killed a lot of them. So I said "no". Man, they've beaten me so bad for that... I had to stay in hospital for 5 weeks. I don't know how many of you took a good beating from about 20-25 guys, who are convinced that you are a traitor. Believe me, is not something you might want to happen even to your worst enemy.
Believe or not, this was my luck. While i was in the hospital, they tried to acomplish that task, and they were all captured. The leader of the group was working for the Internal Security Services. His mission was to lure, gather and capture how many possible "incontrolable elements" as the kids from divorced families were called. They were charged for treason, and they got life sentences. They even were supposed to be happy because they were not executed.
Even I, no matter I said "no" and got that beating, I spend 6 months in something called "correction school" (a prison for juvenile infractors), because I did not denounced them to the authorities.
I let you think about this...

Right now it's a great example of bad spelling and grammer, but it's not really a story yet.

Date: 2006-05-28 08:36 pm (UTC)I posted it here because I found it interesting in a "small world" kind of way, like when a foreign-born college professor comments that he couldn't leave lectures early when he was a student because there were armed guards at the doors, or when the leader of one of your work project's volunteer testing teams appoints a successor because it's time for him to begin his country's mandatory military service (yes, both of these happened to me). I wasn't trying to recreate The Wave, or 1984, or V for Vendetta.

I'm also sorry if my original comment sounded a bit abrupt; I'm having a bit of a difficult time lately, but I don't mean to let that affect my tone/manner. Anyway, I apologize if I caused any offense.
